Dr. Ralph Ashley

Dr. Ashley received a B. S. in Animal Science from NCSU in 1973 and his DVM degree from the University of Georgia in 1977. He has practiced at Jordan Veterinary Hospital since 1977. He has served on the Davidson County Board of Health and is a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lexington Kiwanis Club, and the Lexington Choral Society. Dr. Ashley is married to Jean; they have three children, two grandchildren and a long-haired Dachshund named Scarlet.

       

Dr. Douglas Cope, Jr.

Dr. Cope is a graduate of the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been a doctor with Lexington Veterinary Associates since 1988. Dr. Cope lives in Lexington with his wife, Kim, their four children Andrew, Michael, Daniel, and Rebecca. The Copes raise and sell quality quarter & paint horses.

       

Dr. Salli Steward

Dr. Steward graduated with a B. S. from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1992 and then went on to graduate from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She grew up in this community and has moved back to the area after practicing in Greensboro for 7 years. She treats your pets in all three of our offices. Dr. Stewart lives in Midway with her husband Rob and their two children Alex and Emma. She has two Golden Retrievers, Buddy and Scarlet.

       

Dr. Tonya Tanner

Dr. Tanner received a B. S. in Animal Science from NC State University in 1992 and her DVM in 1996 from North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine. She has a special interest in feline medicine. Dr Tanner lives in Wallburg with her husband Ken Cecil and their three children Tanner, Caleb, and Ashley. She has five cats and three dogs.

Management and Receptionist Team

Mrs. Sandra Beck, B. S. Practice Manager, LVA

Sandra is a 1995 Biological Science graduate of NC State University. She is the practice manager for Lexington Veterinary Associates. She has several furry friends at home cats, dogs, goats, and horses. L.J. , Romeo, Desi and Ellie are shown in this picture. She assisted in the design of this web-page also.

       

Mrs. Kathy Easter, Denton Hospital Manager/Receptionist

Kathy has 20+ years of service with LVA. Animal behavior and training are big interests in her life. She has animal behavior training certification from Purdue University. Providing animal education for clients and community are very important to her. She does many community visits and encourages school, scout, 4-H and daycare tours. Her human family include husband, David: children, Cathy, Erin, & Chad; grandchildren, Emily, Leighann, Avery, Thayer, Colton & Braxton. The "furry Folks" are Sam, Tori, Lance & Arthur, the dogs; Josey, Gabriel & Crackerjack, the birds; Kashmir the rabbit; and Samantha the cat in charge.

       

Melissa Mahaley, Hickory Tree Manager/Receptionist

Melissa has been with our group for eight years. Melissa attended Salisbury Business College and is a Certified Canine/Feline Dental Technician. She lives in Salisbury with her husband, Randy, and daughter, Alyssa. She has four dogs-Rocky, Pixie, Romeo & Brutus. She has one cat named Chat and two guinea pigs named Abu & Aladdin. She also has an interest in hermit crabs. Melissa's goal as manager/receptionist is to ensure that you and your pet 's needs are met with every visit to Hickory Tree.

       

Mrs. Lora Foster, Jordan Manager & Receptionist

Lora is a manager at Jordan Veterinary Hospital. She has ten years of experience in the veterinary field. Her Hobbies include riding ATV's, camping, auto racing, gardening, and landscaping. She graduated from West Davidson High School and attended Salisbury Business College. Her pet family members include Izzle and Socks, the cats. Gracie, a Lab mix, Clover, a border collie mix, Bell a tripod Beagle and a fully stocked fish aquarium.

 

       

Mrs. Kathleen Sweatt Jordan Manager/Receptionist

Kathleen is a manager at Jordan Veterinary Hospital. She graduated from Lexington Senior High and attended Wingate College. She has received continued education from Hollander Consultants for office management and Hills Science Diet for nutrition. Her furry family includes Bull, Smoke and Mercy, her three Weimaraners and two cats, Norman and Wally. Her hobbies are traveling anywhere that has a beach.

Veterinary Assistants

Beth Blake, Veterinary Assistant

Beth is a veterinary assistant at Jordan Veterinary Hospital. She graduated from NC State University with BS in Animal Science. Her furry family members include Sweet Pea, a Golden Retriever, and Tommy, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

 

Connie Trueblood, Veterinary Assistant

Connie is a veterinary Assistant at Jordan Veterinary Hospital. She has five years experience and has been with us for 2 years. She has lived in the Welcome area since 1998. She has two children, a daughter and a son. Her hobbies include sewing, crafts and attending her son's baseball games. She has three dogs, Duchess and Holuikata are German Shepherds and Lady is a Shepherd/Border Collie mix.

Jackie Kennedy, Veterinary Assistant

Jackie is a Veterinary Assistant at Denton Animal Hospital. She has an animal care certificate from DCCC. She is a certified dental technician. She has two cats Sian, and Vicky. She has three dogs Lady Bug, a Beagle and Zeus and Faith, both Boxers.

 

 

 

Somer Gray, Veterinary Assistant

Somer is one of our veterinary assistants at Hickory Tree Veterinary Clinic. She has been with our organization for six years. She is a Certified Canine/Feline Dental Technician. She lives in the Tyro area with her husband, Daniel and daughter, Shiloh. Somer has three dogs; Nugget, Sassy, & Abby. Kiara, their feline companion, is a rescue from Hickory Tree. She and Dr. Tanner will lead in our clinic for the most hospital rescues.

Sabrina Wallace, Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist

Sabrina is one of our veterinary assistants and will soon become co-receptionist. This is her fourth year in veterinary medicine. She has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She was an elementary teacher for 4 years, but realized her true passion was in veterinary medicine. Sabrina has one dog, Sophie, and two cats, Kaesi & Kaiah. She lives with her family in Winston Salem.

Jennifer Lindey, Veterinary Assistant

Jennifer is brand new to our Hickory Tree team, but has very quickly become a valuable asset. She was formerly employed at the Forsyth Humane Society, and has over 8 years experience in animal rescue and medicine. She currently lives in Mocksville with her 2 dogs, Oscar & Cocoa; and a colony of 4 cats; Buttercup, Doonie, Burke, & Ashia.

 

 

 

Heidi Schram - Veterinary Assistant Jordan Veterinary Hospital

Heidi is a veterinary assistant at Jordan Veterinary Hospital.
She holds an Animal Care Certificate from DCCC.
Heidi lives in Lexington with her boyfriend, Jeff and their five cats Tobey, Miss Kitty, Willa, Olive and Kylie. She enjoys gardening, crafts, cooking, baking and playing with her furry children. .

 

 

       

 

 

Darla Leonard, Veterinary Assistant Denton Animal Hospital

Darla is a veterinary assistant at Denton Animal Hospital. She has been apart of Lexington Veterinary Associates since 1996. She is a registered dental technician and is currently in the process of becoming a registered veterinary technician. She has made it her goal to make all animals and their parents feel comfortable when they visit the practice. She lives in Churchland with her husband James and twin boys, Xander and Payton. She has several furry children Emma & Ozzy, both rottweilers, Sidvicous, a boston terrier, and Wilbur & Templeton, both cats.

 

 

Nancy Halcomb, Veterinary Assistant Denton Animal Hospital

Nancy is a veterinary assistant at Denton Animal Hospital. Nancy lives in Denton with her two daughters. She has several furry family members including horses, dogs and cats.

   

 

Diana Townsend, Denton Animal Hospital Receptionist

Diana has been in the veterinary field for over 4yrs. She lives in Trinity with her fiancee William. Her furry household includes Julius, Lil' Bit, and Moonpie her three cats, Gwenna a boxer mix, and Bandit a ferret (pictured). Her hobbies include riding horses, riding ATVs and hanging out with friends.

Elisa Conrad, Groomer

Elisa is our talented groomer at Hickory Tree Veterinary Clinic. She earned a Pet Grooming/ Veterinary Certificate form DCCC in 2004. She received a diploma in Pet Grooming from Lake Norman Pet Grooming School in 2005. She started at HTVC in April 2005. Elisa has been grooming with us for three years. She lives in Lexington with her four cats and three dogs.

 

 

 

Heather Foster, Kennel Assistant

Heather is a senior at West Davidson High School. She has 2 hamsters, Muchie and Demie. She enjoys shopping and beach trips. She has been caring for patients and boarders since 2003. She plans on attending Forsyth Technical Community College after high school to pursue a nursing degree. She is affectionately known as our "kennel kid".
